Ingredients
1kg glutinous rice
1 large red onion, thinly sliced
1/2 teaspoon turmeric
1 piece of ginger
3 tablespoons oil
1 cup warm water
a pinch of salt to season
3 tablespoons oil
1 cup warm water
a pinch of salt to season
2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds and 1 cup of grated fresh coconut
How to do?
- Wash the glutinous rice and then leave to drain the glutinous rice.
- Heat oil in the saucepan.
- Add the onions to the hot oil and stir until they are soften.
- Add pieces of gingers and turmeric powder to the mixture. Give it a stir until they are lightly golden brown.
- Add the glutinous rice to the remaining oil and sprinkle salt. Give this a quick stir.
- Add water just enough to cover the glutinous rice. Cover and let it cook for about 15-20 minutes on low heat.
- Once the rice is cooked and totally absorbed the water, then it is ready to serve.
- Garnish the grated coconut and sesame seeds. (Optional)
